Given our commitment to preserving the history of Travelers Rest, we are thrilled to announce the Society has received the Spring Park Inn home and surrounding 20 acres of property in the heart of Travelers Rest. We’re honored that the owner, Mrs. Nell Anderson Gibson, entrusted this treasure to us.
The Spring Park Inn was one of the oldest inns in Greenville County and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Greenville County Historic Register. Located behind the Gazebo on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, this home and this land are a wonderful gift to the Historical Society and to the people of Travelers Rest and Greenville County.
The home has been beautifully restored as it would have been as an inn in the late 1800-early 1900 Victorian times of Col. Robert W. Anderson, the great-grandfather of Mrs. Nell Anderson Gibson, the last owner who donated the home to the Historical Society. Experience a tour to learn the property’s story and many connections to the history of Travelers Rest. You can also become involved as a docent (tour guide) to share information on the home with others!
